Essay Competitions - October 2011

After the SPARK 2011 fiasco it took us some time to pick ourselves up. Now we are ready to conduct a streak of Essay Competitions in Namakkal, Thiruchchirapalli, Kovilpatti. The competitions will be conducted at the school level for the selected Government Schools. The contest will be conducted for students from 6th Standard to 12th standard. The classes are separated into two categories.

CATEGORY I  - 6, 7, 8, 9th Students.

CATEGORY II - 10, 11, 12th Students.

The competitions will be conducted by the respective school teachers as per their convenience and the entries for the competition will be handed over to the respective regional coordinators before 4th October, 2011. The entries will be evaluated & the prizes will be sent for distribution on October 15th, the birthday of Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

FIRST PRIZE         - Books Worth Rs300/- (Approx)

SECOND PRIZE    - Books Worth Rs250/- (Approx)
THIRD PRIZE        - Books Worth Rs200/- (Approx)  

THEME OF THE COMPETITION. 

  

"I WANT TO BE..."

The students are expected to write an essay of about 300-400 words (Category I) & 500-600 words (Category II) regarding what they wish to be in their life. The essays should be as original as possible giving their individual opinion. It should give convincing reasons for why they want to be so.in their life.

The main aim of the competition is to make the students realise what they really want in life. The competition will make them ponder about the future options for them and how to go on about it.

SPARK 2011

SPARK 2011 has been POSTPONED for an undisclosed date due to organisational snags.



We are extremely happy to inform that Gnana Deepam Trust is organising an ARTS FESTIVAL in Perambalur on August 20th, 2011. D.E.O will inaugurate the function while we are expecting the Trichy District Collector to honour the Prize Distribution ceremony & Valedictory Function.

The name of the festival is SPARK 2011. The name SPARK is selected for the purpose of the arts festival is to ignite the inner fire among the students which will make them as better citizens of the country and to make them competitive in today's world. SPARK also stands for SPorts, ARts & Knowledge, through which the trust plans to attain the following objectives.

                                                               

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the arts festival are to

1. Provide an opportunity for the under-privileged students to show their talents.

2. Motivate the students to improve their talents.

3. Make them competitive with the urban students.

PLACE & IMPORTANCE

The place chosen for the 2011 Arts festival is PERAMBALUR. Though Perambalur is near Trichy but there are many hamlets near the Perambalur which has places like Siruvaachoor, Paadaloor, Selliampaalayam, Ayyaloor among the others. Most students from these places are from Underprivileged section of the society. In order to develop these places, we need to develop the children of this area.

  

THEME

"FREEDOM FROM TERRORISM & CORRUPTION"

The theme of the competition is "Freedom from Terrorism & Corruption". The topic is chosen as they are the two main problems faced by today's India. Terrorism cannot be eradicated and corruption cannot be controlled unless the future generations abstain from them. Young minds of the nation should ideate about these problems and the methods of their extermination. Only then, can we ideate of becoming a DEMOCRATIC & INDEPENDENT INDIA.

COMPETITIONS

All the competitions under SPARK 2011 are conducted under the following 3 CATEGORIES.

A - Classes 1, 2, 3, 4.

B - Classes 5, 6, 7.

C - Classes 8, 9, 10.

Thanks for taking the pain to read this.

As of ever we are in need of funds to provide the impoverished students, with a decent clothing (Uniform) & access to note books. The school is the one at ஆலம்பட்டி ரோடு( Aalampatti Road), near Manigandam which again is near Trichy. The students at the school are mostly poor and live in the near by colony. The parents of the majority of the kids are either visually challenged or visually disabled. There are 104 kids in the school & the Head Mistress has requested for note books to all the kids and clothes at least to 75 kids as they are extremely poor.

The amount required will be around Rs20,000/-

FOR CLOTHES
Rs200/kid X 75 = Rs15,000/-

FOR NOTES
Rs10/Note X 5/kid X 100 = Rs5,000/-

TOTAL = Rs20,000/-
